Knockraha Revolutionary Landscape Survey PDF

In 2014 I was was commissioned through Rubicon Heritage by the Knockraha Area Historical & Heritage Society to examine the archaeological potential of some of their Revolutionary-era sites. Working with the local community, we took the opportunity to undertake the first wide-ranging archaeological survey of a War of Independence landscape on the island.

The decades-long efforts of local historians to preserve the story of the period in their area had produced a wealth of relevant material, and this was combined with traditional archaeological and historical techniques to map the story of the war in this important zone. It is the intent that this approach can be used as a template nationwide, so we seek to gain an understanding of what elements of the Revolutionary landscape survive, better understand it, and better manage it.
